Safety education for children

Safety Sunday at Madison Children’s Museum New Location, 100 North Hamilton

Join us for Safety Sunday at Madison Children’s Museum Sunday, February 6th, noon – 3 PM.  Get the kids out of the house and have some fun before the Super Bowl begins.  In years past over 400 parents and children have attended this event.  Armed with a “safety passport”, children move from station to station to participate in interactive learning stations staffed by community safety leaders.   Scholarships available for museum admission.

Special thanks to event sponsors Target Stores and American Transmission Company.

Check back for details on participating organizations.  Thanks to Madison Children’s Museum for hosting!

Safety Town Summer Camp with MSCR ( Madison School Community Recreation) and Madison Area SAFE KIDS Coalition

Safety Town uses hands-on activities taught in an actual “town” – a small scale city with streets, homes, businesses and sidewalks – to teach local children to be safe in their community. The program is designed to provide comprehensive safety education to children entering kindergarten - a critical age at which to instill safety behaviors. A team of safety experts from a wide range of organizations join together during Safety Town to provide fun, interactive lessons on bicycle, pedestrian and traffic safety, water safety, being safe at home, protective behaviors and fire safety, to area children.

Safety Town is an exciting partnership of Madison Area SAFE KIDS Coalition’s community safety partners to offer fun, hands-on safety education to pre-kindergarten children. Parents of Safety Town alumni rave about their children’s experience!  Check back for details or contact: Nicole Vesely, Madison Area SAFE KIDS email: nvesely@uwhealth.org.

SAFE KIDS USA

As kids grow and develop, they may have different abilities and limitations that put them at a higher risk for specific injuries. The dangers children face go beyond a sprained ankle or a skinned knee. Kids are always pushing the boundaries and trying new things, which can lead to getting hurt. Learn more about The How & Why of Keeping Your Kids Safe from Injury by visiting SAFE KIDS’ website at www.safekidsnetwork.org/stages.
