Grants for Adaptive Living & Home Modifications

If you know of someone (family member, friend or client) who could benefit from home modifications or equipment to promote safe, independent living, listen up!

Grants are available to help provide residents of Dane County and the City of Madison with adaptive equipment or home safety modifications including: wheelchair ramps, stair-lifts, shower remodels, non-skid bath/shower floor strips, lowering shelves or replacing traditional door knobs for lever handles. All grant recipients also receive an in-home safety assessment by a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Residents who do not qualify for a grant may still take advantage of low-cost new and used equipment available for purchase or rental, pick-up or delivery and are eligible to receive free advice or a free home modification estimate from a carpenter.
